PODER UNIDES: Trans+

Empowering Trans people in Atlanta, Georgia

About Us

Our Mission

It is our mission to empower communities to remain at the center instead of at the will of the margins. Poder Unides , Inc., Atlanta-based organization established to eradicate the deep disparities faced by our Trans, Queer, and LGBTQIA+ communities by creating an environment of healing, leadership, community engagement, and personal growth where it is needed the most, prioritizing the historically disenfranchised section of our rainbow family.

Our approach is to conduct a socio-economic screening assessment with our clients and support them by connecting them to vocational assistance services and referrals, all through a trauma-informed lens.

Our Vision

We will prioritize investing in ourselves and our community by cultivating intentional partnerships.

Our vision is to create a physical healing space that fosters growth, development, and advancement. To bring this plan to life, we are committed to fundraising for infrastructure, technology, qualified staff, research, marketing, and other essential resources that will ensure the sustainability and success of our work.

Our Team

Aubrianna Escalera | President

Aubrianna “Aubri” Escalera (she/her/ella) is a Trans Latina advocate, consultant, and community liaison advancing equity and protections for transgender, gender-nonconforming, and queer communities across the Southern U.S. She is Co-Founder and COO of Poder Unides: Trans+ and serves as LGBTQIA+ Liaison for State Representative Park Cannon’s office.

Recognized as Atlanta Pride’s 2023 Grand Marshal, Aubri brings leadership across legislative advocacy, grassroots HIV prevention, and community partnerships. A trailblazer in trans rights, she was among the first transgender people granted a legal name and gender change by the Mexican Consulate of Atlanta. Through a trauma-informed approach, Aubri champions asylum seekers, Dreamers, voting rights, and sexual health equity—working to build a Southeast where all communities can thrive.

Amore Disaya Rayon Sierra Cano| Vice President

Amore Rayon Cano (she/her/ella) is a first-generation American citizen and proud transgender woman who is looking to be a voice of representation for anyone who feels limited due to their gender identification and/or immigration status. Coming from a middle-class single-parent household, Amore grew up seeing the hardships and limitations that her undocumented mother faced while trying to provide financial stability for a family of five. In the process of her development, Amore also struggled internally with self-identification and acceptance. This led her to reflect on how many other undocumented families were out there struggling with similar challenges.

With this perspective, Amore has decided to use her privileges to advocate for Latinx and LGBTQIA+ communities. She serves as Trans Latina PIE National Director of @QueenUnitedContinents_USA and @QueenUnitedContinents_Mexico, and collaborations with the Out Georgia Business Alliance, LGBT Human Rights Institute, and Latinos in the South, among others. Through her work, she channels her experiences into breaking silence, challenging stigma, and inspiring others to live boldly, authentically, and without limitation.
